Product Development Engineer - Driverless Vehicle Hardware (m/w/d)

Your mission

We are looking for a Product Development Engineer - Driverless Vehicle Hardware(m/f/d) to support our Berlin engineering team in building our next generation driverless vehicle platform.

In this role, you will work end-to-end on prototypes and small series – from parts procurement, CAD design, and manufacturing technologies (3D printing, CNC, coating, laser cutting) through to hands-on assembly and initial software integration.

You should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary way, implementing fast iterations, and turning concepts into functional prototypes.

Your Responsibilities

Responsibility for the entire prototyping process: parts procurement, CAD design, selection of suitable manufacturing methods (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting, coating).
Assembly and integration of prototype components (mechanics, electronics, embedded systems).
Rapid iterations from concepts to functional prototypes for vehicles and subsystems.
Close collaboration with mechanics, electronics, and software teams to turn ideas into real systems.
Maintenance and organization of workshop and lab equipment.
Documentation of designs, test results, and lessons learned to support series development.

Your profile

Completed degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent qualification.
Experience in CAD design (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA or similar).
Knowledge of manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting.
Initial experience with electronics, wiring, and embedded software (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry PI, STM32 or similar microcontrollers).
Hands-on mentality and willingness to quickly learn new tools and technologies.
Strong problem-solving and prototyping skills.

Bonus qualifications:

Knowledge of embedded C/C++ or Python for hardware control.
Experience in automotive, robotics, or mobility prototypes.
Understanding of interdisciplinary development teams.
